Just one day after updating the Dopamine jailbreak tool for devices running iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 to version 2.1.3 with bug fixes and improvements, project lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) updated the tool once again on Tuesday, this time bringing it up to version 2.1.4.
Fröder announced the latest update in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) early this morning, noting that it would “address oversights” with some bug fixes and improvements. Citing the change log, those include the following changes:
– Only automatically fix up permissions of relevant directories inside
/var/jb/var/mobile
, rather than the entirety of it
– Skip permission fix up if either/var/jb/var
or/var/jb/var/mobile
is a symbolic link, previously there was a bootloop risk if either of those point to the real/var
or/var/mobile
If you’re already using an older version of the Dopamine jailbreak tool, then you can upgrade to version 2.1.4 directly from the Dopamine app by using the built-in over-the-air updating mechanism. As shown below, this appears as a prompt that there’s an update available. Tapping it reveals the change log and lets you update right from your device, which will be immediately followed by a userspace reboot:
Anyone who isn’t already using the Dopamine jailbreak tool should instead visit the project’s GitHub page, where the latest version can be downloaded and installed using the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial, which involves making use of TrollStore to perma-sign the jailbreak app on your device before running it.
New users are advised to run the latest version of Dopamine that they can, since it will already come packed with the latest bug fixes and improvements for the smoothest user experience possible.
The Dopamine jailbreak is a semi-untethered jailbreak tool that you can keep infinitely signed on your device with TrollStore. It works on the following device and firmware combinations:
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 on A8-A11 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A12-A14 & M1 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A15-A16 & M2 devices
