Jailbreak developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released an updated build of the Dopamine jailbreak tool for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 devices on Monday, this time bringing the tool up to version 2.1.3.
The latest release, announced via a post shared to the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), appears to provide the following changes:
– Fix system deadlocks on some devices resulting in watchdogd timeout [2.0 regression]
– Recursively fix /var/jb/var/mobile permissions on userspace reboots and re-jailbreaks (Fixes file sharing with jailbreak apps still not working for some people)
– Fix codesigning bypass not working on binaries that have an armv6 slice (There probably isn’t a single binary with such a slice though) [2.1 regression]
– Fix multicast_bytecopy not working on iPad Mini 6 (Contributed by @m1zole)
As you can probably see for yourself, many of the recent bug fix updates have included regression fixes, which are intended to improve the reliability and user experience of the Dopamine jailbreak, full circle. Version 2.1.3 is no different from that premise.
If you’re already using the Dopamine jailbreak, then we strongly advise updating to the latest version to ensure that your device is taking advantage of the latest bug fixes and improvements. Why? Because when you hack your device, it can be inherently less stable, so making it as stable as possible with the latest bug fixes is generally the smartest idea.
Existing users can update to the latest version of Dopamine right from the Dopamine jailbreak app, which includes an in-app over-the-air updating mechanism from which you can download and install the latest update and then reboot the userspace to update the jailbreak environment – no computer required.
New or prospective users will want to follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial while using the latest available build at the time of reading this. The process involves installing TrollStore and then downloading the latest build from the project’s GitHub page and using TrollStore to perma-sign it.
At this time, the Dopamine jailbreak supports the following firmware and device combinations only:
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 on A8-A11 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A12-A14 & M1 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A15-A16 & M2 devices
