The Velar theme looks great with both dark and light mode on iPhones

The iDB team was pleasantly surprised to find a marvelous looking theme called Velar by Rifai upon refreshing our sources in Sileo, and we weren’t disappointed after checking it out.

Velar screenshot examples.

Velar is a theme that provides:

  • More than 800 app icons
  • Four different types of notification badges
  • A folder mask
  • Icons for the Settings app

Even better, Velar provides app icons that play nicely with both dark and light mode, so regardless of which way you swing, the theme has the capacity to look just as good on a light mode-user’s device as it would on a dark mode user’s device — and vice-versa.

The icons provided by Velar are soft, using colorful gradient-based backgrounds for most icons, complemented by a simple glyph that denotes the brand of the app.

While 800 app icons are no joke, it’s impossible to support all app icons in existence, so the developer takes app icon requests from users who need to fill a few holes after installation. Those requests can be sent using email or Telegram, with all requests requiring the inclusion of the theme name, bundle ID, and app name.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Velar theme, or how to request new app icons for using it, then you can head over to the Havoc repository where it’s available as a $2.99 purchase.

Velar can be used with jailbroken devices via the SnowBoard theme manager, but you can also use it with non-jailbroken devices by way of the Shortcuts app. Please note, however, that the folder masks, Settings app icons, and notification badges will only apply to jailbroken devices.
