Here’s a name you probably haven’t heard for a while: the RootHide jailbreak detection bypass for the Dopamine jailbreak received an update to version 1.0.9 this week with some rather important changes.
According to the project’s GitHub page, RootHide v1.0.9 introduces the following changes to the tool:
– Fix the issue that may cause some apps to crash in a jailbroken state
– Fix the issue that some Apple apps may not be launched in a non-jailbroken state (requires launching the app once in a jailbroken state to fix it)
– Fix the issue that Crane and some other jailbreak tweaks wouldn’t work properly in RootHide version 1.0.8 (if you have used v1.0.8 for a fresh jailbreak, please reinstall the core package via Sileo)
– Fix the issue where some apps installed via TrollStore would still detect the jailbreak
The RootHide jailbreak detection bypass v1.0.9 update comes about a week after v1.0.8, which was released to hide more traces of the jailbreak from apps on your device. The latter was the first update to the project since last year.
Its important not to confuse this RootHide project with the RootHide bootstrap, the latter of which allows users to install a jailbreak-esque bootstrap on a non-jailbroken device via TrollStore to run jailbreak tweaks in certain apps or to load the Serotonin “semi-jailbreak.” Instead, the RootHide jailbreak detection bypass is an add-on for Dopamine v1 that hides your jailbreak status from apps that normally detect it.
For what it’s worth, the RootHide jailbreak detection bypass has not been updated to take advantage of the new firmware support of Dopamine v2, and we’re unsure if there are any plans to do so at this time. That said, the current RootHide jailbreak detection bypass utility is only for arm64e devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1.
