Dopamine jailbreak v2.1.2 released to fix another regression and include other improvements

Dopamine lead developer Lars Fröder released an updated build of the Dopamine jailbreak tool on Thursday, officially bringing it up to version 2.1.2.

Dopamine v2.1.2 released.

In a post shared to X (formerly Twitter), Fröder noted that version 2.1.2 fixes yet another regression from the larger v2.1 update released earlier in the week.

The full change log for Dopamine v2.1.2 per the project’s GitHub page is as follows:

– Fix App Switcher not displaying preview images of jailbreak apps in some cases [2.1 regression]
– Sandbox: Allow writing to /var/jb/var/mobile systemwide

If you’re an existing Dopamine jailbreak user, then we recommend downloading and using the latest version at your earliest convenience to take advantage of the latest bug fixes and improvements to the tool.

The updates build can be installed on existing users’ devices one of two ways: 1) by using the over-the-air (OTA) update mechanism inside the Dopamine app; or 2) by downloading the latest version of the tool manually and then overwriting your existing installation with TrollStore.

New or prospective users who are thinking about using Dopamine for the first time should download and install the latest available version at the time they install the jailbreak for the first time.

The process of installing Dopamine for the first time isn’t complicated, and involves using the TrollStore perma-signing utility. You can follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial if you feel you need assistance.

The Dopamine jailbreak is available as a free download from GitHub and works on of the following device and firmware combinations:

  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 on A8-A11 devices
  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A12-A14 & M1 devices
  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A15-A16 & M2 devices
