Learn how to play audio messages faster in WhatsApp, Telegram and the built-in Messages app on an iPhone, iPad, and Mac to save time listening to particularly long messages.

People like this capability because you still get the whole message context but in less time and can quickly catch up on multiple audio messages.
iPhone and iPad
- Launch the built-in Messages app and open a conversation containing an audio message.
- Touch and hold the play button and select Play at 1.25x, Play at 1.5x, or Play at 2x from the menu.
You can change the playback speed even while the audio message is playing. To revert to normal playback sped, choose Play at 1x.
Mac
- Launch the built-in Messages app on open a chat with a voice note.
- Right-click the play button to reveal the playback speed picker.
- Select Play at 1.25x, Play at 1.5x, or Play at 2x.
Right-click the pause icon to revert to normal 1x speed.
Change the voice note playback speed on WhatsApp and Telegram
WhatsApp and Telegram offer three playback speeds to choose from: 1.0x, 1.5x, and 2x.
- WhatsApp: With the audio message playing, hit the playback speed button to cycle through 1x, 1.5x, and 2x.
- Telegram: With the audio message playing, choose 1x, 1.5x, or 2x from the control strip at the top.
