Learn how to use Viber’s built-in storage management to find and delete media files and caches hogging valuable storage space on your iPhone.
Viber, Rakuten-owned messenger software, includes built-in features for managing storage usage and identifying the biggest storage hogs for every chat. If you’re constantly low on storage, you may want to delete some Viber files to free up storage space on your iPhone. The feature is unavailable in Viber’s desktop app.
Free up storage space occupied by Viber for iPhone
- Open the Viber app on your iPhone.
- Tap the three-dotted More button (…) in the bottom-right corner.
- Choose Settings from the root list.
- Select Storage.
Viber will analyze its storage consumption, which may take a few moments, before displaying a nice visual overview of your device’s total storage consumption.
You’ll see how much storage your iPhone or iPad has, as well as the amount of free space left, how much space Viber in total and individual chats take up. It also breaks down storage usage by media type, so you can quickly discover videos and photos that ear eating up too much storage on your iPhone.
The “Apps and other files” section refers to the items in other apps on your device that you cannot delete from within Viber. For that, peruse our tutorial explaining how to clear your iPhone’s system data storage.
Hitting the Clear Cache Files button delete cached items that Viber load on demand, like messages in Communities and Channels.
To delete a video, photo, or GIF, select a chat on the storage management screen. Now open a photo or video in fullscreen, hit the Trash icon in the bottom-right corner, and choose Delete item to confirm the operation.
To delete multiple videos, photos, or GIFs in one go, hit the Select button at the top of the chat and cherry-pick the items you’d like to delete (or touch Select All to quickly select all items), then hit the Trash icon and choose Delete items.
To wipe out whole Viber chats instead, select the Chats tab and open a conversation, then touch the name of the chat at the top, select Chat info, choose Clear chat content, and confirm by selecting Clear.
