Learn how to execute personal iOS automations in the Shortcuts app on your iPhone and iPad completely silently, without ever seeing the annoying notification banner.

You may get a notification from the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad when an automation runs. If you do not want that confirmation alert, you have the option to toggle off a switch that will get rid of the notification banner when executing a particular notification.
Note that Apple hasn’t provided a global toggle to turn off notifications for all automations, and neither can you disable Shortcuts app notifications in iOS Settings. So, you will have to turn off the notification on a per-automation basis.
Turn off confirmation notifications for an existing automation
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad and tap Automation.
- Select an automation from the list.
- Turn off the Notify When Run switch if you see it, and tap Done.
- In case you don’t see this switch, tap Automation and set it to Run Immediately instead of Run After Confirmation. Once you select Run Immediately, it will reveal the Notify When Run switch, which you can turn off.
Going forward, whenever this particular automation is triggered, it will perform actions without asking first and without showing you the annoying banner notification.
Turn off the ‘Notify When Run’ option when you’re creating the automation
In addition to disabling the notification for existing automations, you can also turn off this feature when you are building new automations. So, note this tip for the future.
You will see the option to turn off the confirmation notification after selecting the condition when your automation runs. Let me make the steps clear with an example.
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap Automation.
- Tap New Automation or the plus button to create a new automation.
- Select one of the options from the list, such as Time of Day, Alarm, Arrive, CarPlay, Email, Airplane Mode, etc.
- Tap Run Immediately and turn off Notify When Run.
- Now, go ahead and finish creating your automation.
This Shortcuts app automation won’t show a confirmation notification when it runs.
