Learn how to directly share X posts (earlier called Twitter/tweets) to your Instagram story from your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone.

The native sharing of X posts directly to your Instagram story means you do not have to resort to tricks like taking a screenshot of a post, cropping it, and then sharing it as an image in your story on Instagram.
There is a much better and faster way of sharing a post on Instagram than having to screenshot it as the post shows up as a sticker, which makes it look crisper when enlarged. And because it’s interactive, the post sticker comes complete with the original author’s X handle name and username, as well as the number of current likes and comments.
Note that this feature is limited to public posts, and posts originating from private accounts cannot be shared on Instagram using this native sharing option.
Share an X post to your Instagram story
- Open the X app on your iPhone or Android phone and find the tweet you want to share.
- Tap the arrow button on your iPhone or the share button on your Android phone.
- Select Instagram Stories from the share sheet, and hit Open if you see a popup. The post will automatically appear as a sticker in a new story draft that opens in the Instagram app.
- Optional tip: Put two fingers on the sticker and pinch in or out to change its size or rotate it. After that, use one finger to drag the sticker to the desired spot. In my opinion, it looks best when centered.
- Finally, choose whether you’d like to share this story with your Close Friends or all of your followers like you normally would.
