Find nearby points of interest in Apple Maps
- Open Apple Maps on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows PC. We’re using an iPhone.
- Type what you’re looking for in the Search bar.
- You should get an option to Search Nearby. Tap this suggestion.
- Now, go through the results to see all the suggested points of interest. Pull up the results tab to get a detailed list of all the relevant points.
You may also see options to fine-tune your search. For instance, if you search for nearby ATMs, you can tap All Chains and select just the desired banks whose ATMs you want to see. You can also sort by distance instead of the best match.
Once you decide what place of interest to go or learn more about, you can just tap a suggestion and navigate to the location.
The app will also let you move your location so you can get local points of interest in a region that you’re traveling to. Simply drag the map with one finger to move the location to some other region, state, or even country, and the results should auto-update. You can also use two fingers to zoom in on the map and then tap Search Here to see results for that place.
In addition to Search Nearby, you can also use the Guides feature in Apple Maps to see places of interest around you. However, this will only work if the location has a guide.
With these nifty search features in Apple Maps, you can quickly find a local point of interest in no time and make your way there. Of course, you can also use other mapping services, such as Google Maps, which offer such features.
