Learn how to send images, videos, and voice notes on WhatsApp that automatically self-destruct after the recipient has viewed or listened to them once.

For an added sheen of privacy, WhatsApp’s view-once mode allows you to send media that can only be viewed just one time before self-destructing.
Media that you send as view once is not saved to the photo library of the recipient. Furthermore, they cannot share, forward, or copy such images, videos, and audio notes.
In addition to these, the recipient is also blocked from taking screenshots or making screen recordings of such media. However, be cautioned that they can use another phone, camera, or device to take a photo of these media or record the voice message.
On top of all this, the recipient cannot stop you from seeing that they’ve opened your view-once media regardless of whether their read receipts is on or off.
Send images, videos, and voice notes in WhatsApp’s view-once mode
1) Open WhatsApp and go inside a new or existing chat.
2) Select the photo or video you want to send. View once does not seem to work in the latest version of WhatsApp if you select multiple media.
If it’s an audio message, hold the microphone button, drag up, and say what you want.
3) Now, tap the icon made up of a circle with 1 in the middle to activate the view-once mode.
4) Finally, hit the send button.
You’ll know that the other party has viewed your content if the chat bubble reads “Opened.”
Keep in mind that turning off WhatsApp’s read receipts won’t prevent others from seeing their view once image, video, or audio has been opened. However, you will not see exactly when the recipient opened your media if you have read receipts turned off in the WhatsApp settings (in group chats, you’ll always see when members have opened disappearing media).
About auto-vanishing chats
WhatsApp also offers disappearing messages that vanish automatically after 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. With this turned on, WhatsApp auto-deletes new messages sent in the individual or group chat after a chosen time frame. Both the attached media and the text of the message will vanish after the chosen time frame has passed.
The view-once option for photos, videos, and audio should not be confused with WhatsApp’s disappearing messages. In view-once mode, WhatsApp users can choose to send self-erasing media without turning on disappearing messages. The image or video will self-destruct as soon as the recipient views or dismisses it.
