If you spot a traffic incident along your route, you can report it to Apple Maps. When multiple people report the same incident, Apple alerts other drivers using its Maps app in the area. Here are four ways to report traffic incidents in Apple Maps.

1. Report traffic accidents in Apple Maps using Siri

For safety reasons, use your voice to report a traffic incident on iPhone or CarPlay when driving. Invoke the Siri assistant and use one of the following phrases:

  • “Report an accident.”
  • “There’s an accident on the road.”
  • “There’s a crash up ahead/on the road.”
  • “There’s a hazard on the road/up ahead.”
  • “There’s a speed check.”
  • “There’s something on the road.”

2. Use the Report button on CarPlay

If using Apple Maps on CarPlay, hit the Report icon on CarPlay to inform Apple about a traffic incident. CarPlay is a built-in iPhone feature which lets you project certain apps and services on your iPhone via the vehicle’s infotainment screen.

3. Report road incidents when navigating with Apple Maps

Follow these steps to report a crash, hazard, speed check or similar traffic incident on your route when using turn-by-turn navigation on Apple Maps:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom on the navigation screen or tap the upwardly-pointed arrow near the bottom-right corner.
  2. Choose the Report an Incident option and select what to report: Crash, Hazard, Speed Check, or Roadwork.
  3. If prompted, provide the necessary details and submit your request.
