Learn how to share the lyrics of a song from Apple Music as an Instagram Story from your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone.
Apple Music allows you to share your favorite lyrics from a song on Apple Music as an Instagram story with just a few taps. You can share up to 149 characters of the lyrics, which will appear in your Instagram Story, along with a link to listen to that song on Apple Music.
Note that you need an Apple Music subscription to see lyrics in the Music app.
Share song lyrics from Apple Music to your Instagram Story
1) Open the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone and start playing a song.
2) Go to the Now Playing screen if it isn’t already visible and tap the lyrics button here.
3) Touch and hold one of the lines in the lyrics to enter the special lyrics-sharing screen.
4) Select one or more lines of text from this screen, up to 149 characters.
5) Now, pick Instagram from the Share Sheet. The story section of the Instagram app will open with your chosen lyrics and song link. Post it to your story like you normally do.
Another method
In addition to the above steps, you can also tap the three dots menu button on the Now Playing screen and choose Share Lyrics. Now, select the lines and choose Instagram.
Note: Sharing lyrics from Apple Music is currently unsupported on Mac.
If you can’t see the lyrics for a song
Lyrics are shown for most songs on Apple Music. However, there may be times when the lyrics button is grayed out. This happens because of the following reasons:
- Lyrics are not available for that song.
- The song you are playing in the Music app is not from the Apple Music catalog. Maybe it’s a local, unmatched song.
- Your phone is not connected to the Internet.
