Learn how to save articles to Reading List in Google Chrome on your computer and iPhone so you can read them later, even if you do not have an Internet connection.
Chrome lets you save web pages for later reading. While you can use the bookmarks feature to save links, Reading List saves all your items in one convenient spot for easier access. Furthermore, “Articles on your Reading List are saved on your device so you can read them wherever you are, even when you aren’t connected to the web,” notes the company.

Add to Reading List
Items you save from your phone or computer will sync everywhere you use Chrome with that same Google account and have turned on sync.
On Mac or PC
- Visit the web page you want to save.
- Click the three dots icon from the upper right corner and select Bookmarks and List > Reading List > Add Tab to Reading List.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open the web page in Chrome on your iOS device.
- Tap the share icon in the address bar and choose Add to Reading List.
Access and manage your Reading List items
You can catch up on previously saved articles by accessing your Google Chrome Reading List.
On computer
- Open Chrome and click the three-dot icon from the top right corner.
- Select Bookmarks and List > Reading List > Show Reading List.
- You can read the item, mark it as read or delete it from here.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Google Chrome and tap the three-dot menu icon.
- Select Reading List.
- Tap to read it.
- Touch and hold an item to Mark As Read or Delete.
Save for offline reading
You can save your Reading List items to read them offline without Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
On computer
I’ve noticed that items you add to Chrome Reading List on your computer do not automatically save offline. Google’s support page recommends saving the article manually.
- Right-click on a web page and select Save As.
- In the Format box, make sure it says Webpage, Complete, and hit Save.
On iPhone or iPad
Items you add to the Reading List in Chrome on your phone seem to download automatically for offline reading. So, access your Reading List, touch and hold an item here, and select Open Offline Version.
Save to Chrome’s Reading List from another app
Imagine you are reading something in Safari, Firefox, or another app on your iPhone. You can easily add that link to Chrome’s Reading List for future reading.
- With the article open in another app, tap the share button and select Chrome from the list of apps in the iOS Share Sheet. If you don’t see Chrome here, learn how to add it.
- Select Add to Reading List.
