Instagram says that the number of views includes all the replays of your story. So, if some people have viewed your story multiple times, you may see a higher number of views than the number of names/usernames listed there.

If it has been more than 24 hours, your published story is automatically removed from your profile, and added to your Archive. You have an additional 24 hours (48 in total since you published the story) to see who viewed it.

1) Open Instagram and go to your profile screen.

2) Tap the menu icon from the top right and select Archive.

Notes on archived Instagram stories

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind regarding your Instagram story archives.

  • If you delete a story yourself before it disappears, it will not be saved to your Stories Archive. But you can Archive a story manually after publishing it.
  • If you haven’t enabled or already disabled the feature to automatically Archive your stories after they disappear, you won’t be able to see them in the Stories Archive. To re-enable the feature, go to your Instagram Settings > Archiving and downloading and turn on the toggle for Save story to archive.
