Learn how to use Apple’s Optimized Battery Charging feature with your AirPods to slow down battery aging by delaying charging past 80% until needed.

Available for all AirPods Pro models, the third-generations AirPods and later, as well as the iPhone and Mac laptops, Optimized Battery Charging learns from your daily routine to maintain battery health by delaying charging past 80%. Reducing the time the battery spends fully charged improves its health and reduces aging.
The algorithm analyzes how you use your device over a period of time to determine the best times to pause charging. Charging resumes automatically to finish right about before the system thinks you’ll use your device. Check that this setting is turned on for your AirPods is important since AirPods batteries cannot be replaced.
Manage optimized battery charging for AirPods
The Optimized Battery Charging setting should be turned on by default, but it doesn’t hurt checking.
1) Wear your AirPods and connect them to your iPhone or iPad.
2) Open the Settings app and tap your AirPods name near the top, then select Battery from the list of options. Or, select the Bluetooth option and then hit the info icon ⓘ next to your AirPods name.
3) Check that the Optimized Battery Charging switch is tuned on.
Optimized Battery Charging is a global setting; enabling it on your iPhone or iPad will automatically turn on all your other devices using the same Apple account.
