Learn a few useful tips to filter your Music library and find the songs, albums, or artists you want quicker than ever on your iPhone and iPad.
If you have hundreds or thousands of songs in your Music library, it can be challenging to find what you’re looking for.
When you search your library, you do not have to scroll to see your search results in artists, albums, and songs. With handy filters, you can jump to the category you want to find what you need.
Filter your Music library
If you’re looking for something in your library, start by tapping the Search tab and then tap the search bar at the top. Now, you can tap either the Apple Music or Library tab to define your search location.
Choose Library, enter a term into the search box, and hit Search on your keyboard.
Now, swipe down on the screen, and you will see the categories right at the top: Top Results, Artists, Albums, Songs, and such. Tap to pick one and filter your results. This gives you a quicker and clearer way to find what you’re looking for in your Music library.
The Top Results category is a convenient option because it includes the top results from all categories in one spot.
You’ll notice the Apple Music tab disappear from beneath the Search field. So, if you want to continue your search in Apple Music instead, just tap inside the search box. Your keyword will remain, but the Apple Music tab will reappear, so you can tap it to search there.
With all of those albums and songs in your Music library, it can be hard to find something if you’re not sure of the exact title. But with filters in the Music app, you can search and filter categories more easily.
