How to view retweets with comments in the Twitter app and website

Learn how to view retweets with comments, also known as quote tweets, in the Twitter app and website to see what people are saying about it.

There's more to a conversation that the number of Retweets

When people come across a tweet (or post) they resonate with, they can retweet (or repost) it so their followers can see it. And if they have some accompanying thought for that tweet, they can retweet it with a comment. This is called quote tweet.

Now, when you tap a tweet, you can see all the replies/comments under it. However, if you want to see the quote tweets, that’s easy to do as well.

Note that if the original poster has limited replies to their post, then people resort to quote tweeting. So, if you do not see replies under a popular tweet, then look for the quote tweet option.

In the Twitter app

  1. Open the X app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. If you are on a Mac, open the Twitter app.
  2. Tap the tweet whose quote tweets you want to see.
  3. Tap N Quotes. You can now swipe to see what people have added to that tweet while retweeting.

On the Twitter website

  1. Visit Twitter.com in a web browser on your computer or mobile phone.
  2. Click a tweet whose quote tweets you want to view.
  3. Click the retweets icon and select View Quotes.

Note that if you do not see the N Quotes option in the Twitter app, that means this post has not been quote retweeted. However, you will still see the View Quotes option even if the post has no quote tweets, however, clicking it will show “No Quotes yet.”

The second thing to note is that Twitter won’t let you go through the quote tweets unless you’re signed in.
