Find out how to disable the search column on the right side of the Twitter app on your iPad if you do not like staring at trending topics and world news while using the app.

I will say this right off the bat — iPad Pro owners may want to leave the sidebar turned on.
Even if you don’t care about trending topics at all, disabling the search column leaves you with lots of wasted space on the iPad Pro because Twitter has never really cared about optimizing the user experience on large tablets such as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Personally, I don’t mind staring at Twitter trends every time I fire up the app on my iPad Pro because I really dislike that unused white space when the search column is off. Of course, different people have different needs, and what works for me probably won’t work for you.
Remove the trending column in the Twitter app on iPad
- Rotate your iPad to landscape orientation, as the trending sidebar isn’t visible in portrait orientation.
- Now, open the official X app on your iPad.
- Tap the three-dot menu icon.
- Tap the little sidebar icon to hide or show the right sidebar.
Doing so will disable the search column in the sidebar on the right-hand side of the screen, leaving you with only the tweets (and the navigation menu in the narrow left-hand column).
Another method
- Make sure your iPad is in landscape orientation and tap the menu icon.
- Tap Settings and Support > Settings and privacy.
- Select Accessibility, display, and languages.
- Tap Display and sound.
- Turn off Show search column. Note that this option won’t appear if your iPad is in portrait orientation.
