Are you new to an iPhone or iPad? In this brief tutorial, we will show you earn how to quickly copy website URLs in Safari from browser tabs, bookmark folders, Favorites, and elsewhere.
You will need to copy the URL before you can paste it into a document, note, email, etc., or share it in an app of your choosing.
If you have recently moved to an iOS device, these handy tips will ensure you can see and copy Safari web links whenever needed.
When you are in a browser tab
- Open Safari and swipe down on the webpage so the address bar shows.
- Tap the URL box, and it should auto-select the full website address, as evident from its blue highlight.
- Tap the selected URL and choose Copy.
Copy the URL of a Favorite website
- Open Safari. Create a new tab if you do not see the Start Page with websites you have marked as your favorites.
- Touch and hold a favorite website and tap Copy. You can also tap Share and choose Copy from the Share Sheet.
From bookmarks, bookmark folders, Reading List, or history
- Go inside Safari and tap the open book icon.
- You will see three tabs: Bookmarks and Bookmarks folders, Reading List, and History. Select one.
- Touch and hold one of the items and tap Copy.
Use the on-page copy button
Some websites allow you to copy the article URL by providing a convenient button on the web page itself. Look for that and tap to copy the page address to the clipboard.
Note: Some websites do not let you copy the full URL but a shortened version of it that eventually leads to the same web page.
Copy site URLs you have open on your other devices
Websites you have opened in Safari on your other devices will show up on the Start Page. Simply touch and hold a site name and choose Copy.
Web pages inside an in-app browser
When you tap a link in apps like Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Gmail, and more, it opens in an in-app web browser. If you want to copy that link, tap the Share button and select Copy.
