Do you have too many shows in your Up Next queue that you’ll never watch? Learn how to remove episodes from Up Next in the TV app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
A handy feature of the TV app is that you can add shows to your Up Next queue. So as you browse through the options, you can tap or click and that next episode will be waiting for you when you’re ready. This will sync across your devices too.
The problem is that if you add too many shows and end up disliking one, you’re probably never going to click it in your queue to watch the next episode. Then, your Up Next queue becomes flooded with shows you’ll never watch.
If you’d like to keep your queue clean with only the shows you actually want, here’s how to remove episodes from it in the TV app on iOS, Mac, and Apple TV. Note that your Up Next syncs and stays updated across all your devices. So, removing it from one device will remove from everywhere.
On iOS
- Open the TV app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the Home or Apple TV+ tab to see your Up Next queue.
- Touch and hold the show you want to remove.
- Tap Remove from Up Next in the shortcut menu.
In addition to the above steps, you can also go to a show’s page and tap the checkmark icon to remove it.
On Mac
- Go to the TV app and select Home or Apple TV+ from the left sidebar.
- Right-click over an item in the Up Next section or click the three dots icon for it.
- Select Remove from Up Next. This will remove the checkmark and the episode from your queue.
On Apple TV
- Open the TV app and go to the Home or Apple TV+ section to see your movies and TV shows listed in the Up Next section.
- Select the show you want to remove from Up Next.
- Now, press and hold the touchpad center button of the Siri Remote and it will show a menu. Select Remove from Up Next. You’ll see a brief message at the top right corner that the show has been removed.
If you use the TV app on your device, then keeping your Up Next queue clean means that you don’t have to fish through a bunch of shows you don’t want to watch. That’s as bad as trying to find a show on cable, right?
