Learn how to save your home, work, and other favorite places in Apple Maps on iPhone so you can easily navigate and access your preferred destinations with a single tap.
Maybe you’re off the beaten path and need to get to your child’s school, maybe there are detours for construction and you need to get to work, or maybe you just moved to a new city and need extra help finding these spots. Whatever the case may be, saving those locations you often visit in the Maps app as favorites gives you a quick way to get there.
This cool feature of the Maps app makes it easy for you to get to your favorite places if you’re in a location you’re not familiar with. Plus, you can quickly see travel time from your current spot to your favorites to help you plan your drive.
Add your home and work locations in Apple Maps
By default, you’ll see Home and Work as two favorite places. And to make use of it, here’s how to add the addresses for these two spots.
1) Open the Apple Maps app on your iPhone and swipe to pull up the bottom card.
2) Tap Home or Work if they don’t already have your addresses fetched from your My Card in the Contacts app.
3) Select an option under the Siri Suggestions heading if relevant. Or, use the search bar to find where you live or work and tap it from the suggestions.
4) Review the details once again, and tap the checkmark to save it.
Add your favorite locations in Apple Maps
If you’ve another important location to save, such as your child’s school or airport, you can do that easily by following these steps.
1) Go to the Maps app on your iPhone, pull up the bottom card, and tap the big Add button (+) next to your Home and Work buttons.
2) Select a suggested location or search for one and tap it.
3) Use the Label field if you want to save this location with a custom name (like Kate’s school). Secondly, the Maps app should recognize the type of location it is. For example, it recognizes Walgreens as a pharmacy. Finally, tap the checkmark icon to save it. You’ll see the spot you added to the Places section of the Maps app.
Edit or delete your Apple Maps favorites
You can change your home and work location, rename the saved location, rearrange their positions, or delete them.
1) Touch and hold the home, work, or other favorite location and tap Edit Details.
2) Now, change the details as needed. If you see the “Refine Location on the Map” option, you can use it to select the precise spot.
3) And if you don’t want to keep this favorite location saved, tap the Unpin option.
