Learn how to disable call waiting on your iPhone to stay focused during important calls and avoid interruptions that break your focus with our step-by-step guide.
Call waiting is a helpful feature that lets you answer an incoming call while already on another call. It was first introduced as a telephony service on landlines decades ago.
While it can be convenient, call waiting can sometimes interrupt important conversations when you don’t want to be disturbed. Follow the steps below to turn off call waiting for all SIM lines on your iPhone and take control of your calls.
Turn off call waiting on your iPhone
1) Open the Settings app, scroll to the bottom, and tap Apps.
2) Choose Phone in the list of apps.
3) Tap Call Waiting.
4) If your iPhone uses multiple SIM lines, pick one here. Wait a few seconds until the Call Waiting switch appears, then set it to the OFF position.
Now, you can concentrate on the current call without being interrupted by a friend trying to reach you. If you change your mind later, you can always turn on call waiting by turning on this switch. iPhone owners with multiple SIM lines can toggle the Call Waiting feature for each SIM line independently.
Call waiting is useful when you receive an emergency call while already on another call. Since it’s easy to turn on and off, you can temporarily disable it if needed.
Manage iPhone calls like a pro
You can also set up call forwarding on your iPhone just as easily. The built-in Phone app is even better on iOS 26, but not everybody’s a fan of the updated layout. Thankfully, you can revert the Phone app to the classic design with just a few taps.
