Learn how to quickly change your current SIM or eSIM PIN on iPhone for added security and privacy.

Do you need or want to change your iPhone SIM PIN? Maybe you entered the code from your cell phone carrier and want a more secure SIM PIN or were able to create one yourself and just want to change it now. Either way, it takes just a few minutes.
What is a SIM PIN?
To protect your SIM card in case your phone is lost or stolen, you can assign it a PIN (personal identification number). This adds a layer of security, ensuring no one else can use your SIM to make phone calls, send or receive messages, or use your cellular data.
A SIM PIN works irrespective of the device it was set on. For example, even if you set the SIM PIN on an iPhone, you or the thief who gets hold of your physical SIM will need to enter this same PIN after inserting the SIM card into an Android phone, another iPhone, or a feature phone.
Note that you can set up a SIM PIN for both physical SIM and eSIM. You don’t need cellular data or Wi-Fi to make changes to the SIM PIN.

3) Tap Change PIN.
4) Enter your current PIN and hit the checkmark icon.
5) Now, enter your new PIN, and tap the checkmark icon. Enter it again to confirm the change, and tap the checkmark icon to save your changes. Usually, the SIM PIN is four digits, but some carriers may allow a longer number.

In case you don’t remember your current SIM PIN, you’ll have to contact your carrier, check the carrier app, or refer to the SIM card package to find out the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code. Next, you can type the wrong PIN a few times to lock the SIM and then use the PUK code to unlock the SIM and set a new PIN.
