Screen Time makes it easy to restrict specific websites from loading on your or your kid’s iPhone or iPad. So, whether you want to block access to adult sites or just a social media site your kid is spending too much time on, you can easily do that.

Restrict access to certain websites on iPhone and iPad

1) Open the Settings app on your kid’s iPhone or iPad and tap Screen Time. If you have added your child to your Apple digital Family, you can also select their name in your device’s Screen Time Settings and follow the rest of the steps.

2) Make sure the Screen Time passcode is set up. If not, add one by tapping Lock Screen Time Settings. Keep this passcode different from the device’s Lock Screen passcode and don’t share this code with your child.

3) Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn it on from the next screen. Then, tap App Store, Media, Web, & Games.

4) Select Web Content.

5) Now, tap Limit Adult Websites, followed by Add Website under the ‘Never Allow’ heading. For your information, ‘Unrestricted’ means full access without any limitations, whereas ‘Only Approved Websites’ lets you block all sites except for a few you specifically allow.

6) Enter the URL of the restricted site and tap the done/checkmark key on your keyboard. You’ll then return to the Web Content screen. You can continue to add more websites to the restricted list if necessary, or just exit the Settings app.

To check, open Safari and try to visit the site you just blocked. You’ll see that it shows, “Website Not Allowed. The site is a restricted website” or “You cannot browse this page because it is restricted.” Tapping “Add Website to Allowed List” or “Allow Website” will ask your child to enter the Screen Time passcode, which only you know.

If you ever want to re-allow that site, go to the same spot in Screen Time restrictions settings by following the above steps and swipe left on the added website URL to delete it. You can also tap Add Website to Allowed List and enter the Screen Time passcode.
