Learn how to make the speaker on your iPhone sound a bit louder than usual, even with the volume cranked all the way up to the maximum.
Recent iPhones have a stereo speaker system comprising the earpiece and the loudspeaker at the bottom, which delivers twice the audio output of older devices and increased dynamic range.
You can crank up the volume by dragging the volume slider in the Control Center all the way up, but this isn’t the loudest your iPhone can get. In this quick tutorial, we’ll show you a nice little trick to make your iPhone’s speaker even louder than it normally is without downloading any apps.
Late Night equalizer makes an iPhone speaker louder
Go to Settings > Apps > Music, then hit EQ in the Audio section and select the equalizer setting labeled Late Night. To test the difference in volume, play some loud music and toggle between the Late Night and Off settings. Depending on your hearing health, you’ll notice a subtle or a significant difference. To my ear, the Late Night setting makes the iPhone speaker noticeably louder than any other EQ preset.
The Late Night setting was specifically designed to make the quiet segments louder. Equalizer settings apply to the built-in Music app, third-party apps and games, and system features like phone calls. However, some apps like Spotify have their own built-in audio equalizer that overrides Apple’s. Another tip to make the music louder: Turn off Sound Check in Settings > Apps > Music.
Music volume also depends on the file; songs purchased on iTunes in 320kbps will generally sound excellent and loud. In contrast, low-quality audio streams stream or songs downloaded in 64kbps or 128kbps will sound fainter and quieter.
