Learn how to edit a photo caption on Instagram to fix embarrassing typos, correct a mistake, or expand it with new information.
You can edit your existing Instagram captions, add a caption to a post that lacks one, or delete a caption to remove it entirely. You can update an Instagram caption as many times as you like, there’s no hard limit on the number of edits you can make.
Edit the caption for your Instagram post
Open the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap the post containing the caption you need to updated, and then hit the three-dotted menu button and choose Edit. Tap inside the text box, update your caption, and tap Done to save the changes. You can also edit captions using Instagram’s web interface.
Posting in a rush increases the chance of typos, but now you know how to fix any mistakes, hopefully before others catch them. For transparency’s sake, Instagram used to identify updated captions with an “Edited” indicator which would appear when someone attempted to leave a comment on your post. Instagram no longer shows this label for edited captions, and others can’t see your edit history either.
