Multiple devices ringing at once result in an array of unwanted notifications. And with all your devices on the same desk, an incoming call will sound like an annoying symphony. Follow along as we show you how to stop iPhone calls from ringing specific other devices.

About FaceTime calls

FaceTime video and audio calls are treated differently from standard cellular phone calls. If someone tries to reach you via FaceTime, all devices signed into the same Apple account will ring simultaneously. The only way to address this is to sign out of FaceTime on any devices you don’t intend to use the feature on, and they’ll stop ringing.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Launch the Settings app on the device you don’t want to receive FaceTime calls on, then tap Apps at the bottom, and select FaceTime.
  2. Turn off the FaceTime switch to disable FaceTime calls on this particular device. Alternatively, untick any added phone numbers or email addresses on the ‘You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At’ list. This should be enough to stop this device from ringing when you receive a FaceTime to these phone numbers or email addresses.

  2. Select the General tab, then click the Sign Out button to sign out of FaceTime. Or, edit the ‘You can be reached for FaceTime at’ list to deselect the phone numbers and email addresses associated with your iPhone. This will prevent your Mac from ringing when you receive a FaceTime call on your iPhone.
