Learn how to turn off Siri-suggested events in Apple’s built-in Mail and Calendar apps on an iPhone, iPad, and Mac to remove unwanted entries from your schedule.

When you receive an email with a date and time in message body, Apple Mail displays a “Siri Found an Event” banner. Tapping it lets you add an event like a dinner reservation or flight details to the built-in Calendar app. If yo don’t find these suggestions helpful, you can turn them off to reduce distractions.
About suggested events
Siri suggests events based on the contents of emails you receive, but only for Apple’s built-in Mail app. If iOS intelligence detects a date and time in message body, a banner offering an event suggestion pops up at the top of the email. You can dismiss the suggestion or add it to the Calendar app as a new event. These events also appear in the Calendar app’s Siri Suggestions list. Event suggestions are turned on by default in all versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS, but you can toggle them off.
Disable Siri event suggestions in the Mail app
You’ll need to turn off event suggestions separately for each device. On an iPhone or iPad, launch the Settings app and choose Apple Intelligence & Siri or Siri. Scroll down and tap Apps, then select Mail and turn off the Show in App switch. Siri will no longer disrupt your flow by displaying event suggestions in the Mail and Calendar apps. To resume event suggestion in Mail, just toggle the above option again.
On your Mac, click the Apple menu and choose System Settings, then select Apple Intelligence & Siri or Siri in the System Settings sidebar. On the right side, click the button labeled “About Siri, Dictation & Privacy.” Now select Mail, turn off the switch labeled “Show Siri Suggestions in application,” and hit Done.
Disable Siri Suggestions in the Calendar app
Aside from Mail, event suggestions also show up on the built-in Siri Suggestions calendar within the Calendar app. From there, you can add a suggestion to your calendar as a new event. You can turn off the Siri Suggestions calendar if you don’t find event recommendations useful.
On an iPhone or iPad, launch the Calendar app and hit Calendars at the bottom, then untick the Siri Suggestions options and tap Done.
To stop Siri from offering event suggestions in the Calendar app, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and choose Apple Intelligence & Siri or Siri. Next, choose Apps, followed by Calendar, then turn off the Show in App. Doing so will also hide the Siri Suggestion calendar in the Calendar app.
To remove Siri-suggested events from the Calendar app on your Mac, hit the tiny calendar icon in the top-left corner and untick the box for Siri Suggestions.
You can also turn off Siri Suggestions entirely in System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri or Siri, then choose About Siri, Dictation & Privacy, select Calendar in the sidebar, and turn off the switch next to Show Siri Suggestions in application on the right.
