Learn how to recover deleted voicemails on your iPhone and restore these audio messages for safekeeping, reference, and other purposes.

We’ve all done it at least once. You listen to a voicemail and delete it, thinking you won’t need it again. Perhaps you’ve accidentally deleted an important voicemail from a potential business lead or your significant other. Now what?
The good news is that you can still save your job, relationship, or whatever important message can do for you by undeleting your deleted voicemails, and here’s how.
How to undelete a voicemail on an iPhone
1) Open the Phone app and go to the Voicemail section. On iOS 26, tap the three lines in the top-right corner and select the Unified view, then choose Voicemail in the menu. On iOS 18 and older, select the Voicemail tab in the bottom-right corner.
2) Tap Deleted Voicemails at the bottom, select the message you want to rescue, and hit the undelete icon resembling a crossed-out trashcan. This will recover the deleted message and add it back to the Voicemail section of the built-in Phone app. Repeat these steps for other deleted voicemails you’d like to restore.
This works for regular and visual voicemails. Have you ever deleted an important voicemail only to regret it, wondering what to do? Let us know in the comments!
