Does the New iTunes Logo Suck?

Sébastien Page ∙ Updated January 24, 2016

Besides unveiling a new line of iPods and the new Apple TV on Wednesday, Steve Jobs also launched the new and revamped iTunes 10, which comes with a brand new logo. As always when there is a drastic design change, people are angry and bitch about it.

That’s what adman Joshua Kopac did by emailing Steve Jobs about it. Of course Jobs couldn’t disagree more with Kopac. Here is the full/short email exchange:

Steve,

Enjoyed the presentation today. But…this new iTunes logo really sucks. You’re taking 10+ years of instant product recognition and replacing it with an unknown. Let’s both cross our fingers on this…

To which Jobs replied:

We disagree.

Well, duh!

It is true the old logo was kind of outdated. CDs are a thing of the 90’s so it makes sense to take them off the logo. At the end of the day, I couldn’t care less about the new logo.

What do you think?
